Crandall Canyon Memorial Run Saturday, July 31, 2010 • Huntington, Utah On August 6, 2007 a collapse at the Crandall Canyon Mine trapped six miners. Ten days later on August 16, 2007 a second collapse killed 3 rescuers and injured numerous others. The miners and rescuers are still entombed in the mine. This event is in their memory. The first Crandall Canyon Memorial Run took place on August 1, 2009. The race takes place on a National Scenic Byway. This is a beautiful, fast down-hill course and is the highest 1/2 marathon in Utah, starting at 8800 feet (correct us if we're wrong - we can't find a higher race) Runners are encouraged to visit the monument at the mine entrance just up the canyon from the finish line as well as the monument in Huntington City. Proceeds from the run will benefit a TBD charity. Packet pickup will be at Huntington City park (Center Street and Main Street) the morning of the race at 6:00 AM. Runners will be bussed to the start of each race and back to Huntington City after the races. Busses leave at 7:00 AM. Races will begin as soon as the busses arrive at each start line (Half marathon first, 10k second, then 5k). Online registration is now closed. You can register at packet pickup.
